Let us remember the infamous quote by Jesse Owens, “The battles that count aren't the ones for gold medals. The struggles within yourself—the invisible, inevitable battles inside all of us—that's where it's at."
All over America, households have had to re-define a new normal, a new way of living. Many have also realized that they have not really been living at all. Their lives have been consumed with work, bills, school, and the stress of all life’s unforeseen pressures. Families everywhere have suffered for years from poor physical health, a weakened emotional state from not dealing with emotional trauma, and mental stress from not being able to unload all that life has thrown at them over the years and heal properly.
Due to the current state of America with social distancing and the current stay at home orders, families have been able to wake up to each other’s smiling faces. Fathers and mothers everywhere are playing with their children more, re-kindling love in relationships, finishing home improvement projects that they have put off and starting businesses that may have been put off for years. Let us look at the beauty that has come out of this world changing event instead of focusing on what we have lost. Let’s empower our friends and family to smile more, to keep playing with their little ones, keep working on that business plan, keep calling your family members that you haven’t spoken to in years and re-build that relationship. Numerous people all over the world are beginning to self-reflect and re-evaluate their lives. People are dealing with personal issues head-on instead of masking them in work assignments. Something beautiful is happening. Healing has taken place in more ways than one. For the first time in a long time, the whole world is connected. America is unified in a common goal, and life as we know it, has the potential to be the type of beauty we only dreamed of.
